A survey of native wildlife habitat is being planned across areas associated with Molokaʻi Ranch. The survey would help identify where intact habitat remains, where fragments could be reconnected, and which native species most depend on restoration of the surrounding forest.
Species found nowhere else
Molokaʻi is home to native birds, insects, and plants that exist nowhere else on earth. Many depend on specific native plants and intact habitat. Understanding where they persist is essential before any habitat work is undertaken.
Guided by monitoring, not assumptions
The survey is being designed around monitoring and community knowledge rather than assumptions. No habitat manipulation has begun. Findings will inform any future restoration priorities and will be shared publicly once reviewed.
